With the end of October also our whale watching season ends. We are looking back on many great and successful months with awesome whale sightings. Both, crew and passengers that had been on our very last tour of this year will keep this trip in memories: we sighted a gentle humpback whale relaxing near the mountains on the other side of the bay.
Time flies and the first half of October is already over! From the 16th of October on we will have only one daily „GG1 Whale Watching Tour" departing at 9:45am. We‘ll keep on sailing throughout the month.
The past days had been really stormy and along with the winds, the first snow of this autumn fell from the sky, covering Húsavík Mountain in a white dress. Also the northern lights have been spectacular during these nights and were a great event to be watched whilst experiencing the stormy weather as it can be like in this time of the year.
The month of October has started. Our RIB Amma Kibba went out for the very last scheduled tour for the season of 2014 yesterday afternoon. From now on we'll have two more scheduled "GG1 Whale Watching" departures on our oak boat Sylvía:From the 1st - 15th of October we'll sail daily at 9:45 and 13:15.From the 16th - 31st of October we'll cut down our timetable to only one departure daily at 9:45.Don't miss your chance to join us on one of our trips! Every year, people from all over the world come to Húsavík to piece together the crew of Gentle Giants. Everybody has their own personality and spirit. Just as many-sided as our crew are the passengers and we do our best to meet everyone’s expectations.
Yesterday we were happy to welcome a group of 105 Japanese tourists on our oak boats Faldur and Sylvía. The day could not have started better as with the sun, which was shining onto us from a blue sky.
Yesterday, we were lucky to spot a pod of killer whales in our bay. Usually, they just stay for a short period of time before leaving again and one has to be extremely lucky to be on exactly that tour, which finds them.
„Killer whales, killer whales, killer whales“, was what Belén, one of our guides, shouted into the phone when the Ticket Center was calling to ask for news about the 09:45 tour on our oak boat Sylvía.
Though it is noticeable in many respects that summer is slowly coming to an end, we are still welcoming many visitors and whale-enthusiasts on our tours. Mornings have still been busy, so we added an extra departure on our speed boats at 9:30 the past days.
