IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Soon it’s Christmas and as before, our boats Faldur, Sylvía and Athena have been decorated with lights. They look great and give a nice Christmassy atmosphere to Húsavík harbour in this darkest time period of the year.

SYLVÍA CELEBRATING 40TH BIRTHDAY

Even though our whale watching season has finished, there are still many things going on around Gentle Giants. During the winter time, when boats do not sail, they undergo annual maintenance. Especially oak boats need a lot of care.

SHARING MEMORIES

Tobias has been out with us on a whale watching trip a little while ago. When looking at his photos back in Germany, he came across this lovely shot of our oak boat Faldur and a humpback whale leaving for a dive right next to the vessel.

NOVEMBER ARRIVED

AT ONE WITH THE SEA

The other day we were lucky to watch a completely unafraid, yet so gorgeous humpback whale surfacing really near to our RIB speed boat during a “GG2 Big Whale Safari”, which departed at 12:30. The humpback whale seemed to be at one with the sea as it was surfing the smooth waves surrounding it.

ANOTHER PASSENGER’S FEEDBACK

Amit from India has been a passenger on our 9:30 GG2 Big Whale Safari on the RIB speed boat the other day. As throughout October, humpback whales were encountered on the trip. The same day in the afternoon Amit sent following message: “Hello, I had a great time today with Gentle Giants [on the] 9.30 morning tour, it was superb.

FABULOUS OCTOBER

Winter is definitely arriving to Skjálfandi Bay as it gets colder and colder at sea. As time passes, one would assume the whales will soon leave and start their journey towards warmer waters. However, it turns out NOT to be the truth: Even though our whale watching season will finish in less than a month, whale-wise we can’t really see any difference to the summer time - the bay is still frequented by several humpback whales! Here is guide Miro’s story: “Just the other day, I knew already before our tour had started that it’s going to be amazing out there.

FROM A PASSENGER'S POINT OF VIEW

At  half way through October, the whale watching continues to be wonderful here in the bay. So far the fall months have been successful and exciting, with many humpback whales still around to entertain our passengers and crew, and even some minke whales as well!It is always nice to hear from our passengers about their personal experiences on board, and we received this lovely feedback and picture from Dennis de Wildt who joined us in September: "Great trip!! Don’t hesitate just do the trip.
