BAY FULL OF HUMPBACKS

Probably 7 different humpback whales were spotted today! As well the crew on the RIB speedboat as the oak boat crew enabled our passengers to see most of them from a short distance. The amount of humpback whales in our bay obviously continues to increase.

LOADS OF LIFE IN THE BAY

During the past days the whale watching has been really successful. More and more whales – especially humpback whales – have made their way up to the north and into our bay. On nearly all our tours we were able to spot these animals in different areas of the bay – some of them were just a short boat ride away from the harbour! Also yesterday at least two individuals were sighted in addition to some minke whales, which had been spotted already the previous days.

WHALES, DOLPHINS AND SUNSHINE

After a couple of stormy days and a sudden snowfall on Saturday, we were surprised by sunshine and a cloudless sky yesterday morning. Hence, everyone was looking forward to sail out in this beautiful summer-like conditions.

HUMPBACK WHALE CELEBRATING ITS RETURN

Even though we are still waiting for the summerly weather to arrive – the whales do not seem to be concerned: Just a couple of minutes ago news from one of our whale watching boats arrived saying that a couple of humpback whales were spotted in the bay.

MORE DEPARTURES IN MAY

Time flies and May is just around the corner! April has been a very interesting month with the whales. Blue whales were spotted quite frequently, which is very unusual for this time of year. Humpbacks and minke whales were also seen on some tours.

GG AT A TOURISM WORKSHOP IN STOCKHOLM

"The world is a book and he who stays at home reads only one page". These wise words were embroidered onto a pillow in the big hall where yesterday’s travel workshop in Stockholm was held. Daniel and I represented Gentle Giants at a tourism event in Sweden yesterday evening, organised by Promote Iceland.

SAILING AGAIN - 2 HUMPBACKS

We could finally go out whale watching today after two stormy days and cancelled trips. It is always exciting to go out after such storms and see what Skjálfandi Bay has to offer. Two humpbacks were spotted in the bay today, the first humpbacks that we see since our season started.
