We send our warmest holiday greetings to you all! Best regards from the team of Gentle Giants
In the end of October it was announced that Gentle Giants' tour GG2 Big Whale Safari & puffins received the GetYourGuide Awards 2019 for incredible travel experiences – the first ever Icelandic company to win the awards and the only company from Iceland winning this year.
Yet another great whale watching season has come to an end. We'd like to thank all our passengers for having joined our tours, but also our crew on land and on the boats for coming from near and far to make the tours possible.
As the number of whales has reached incredible counts during the last days, Skjálfandi Bay has made it into the news: RÚV published an article earlier this afternoon, telling about the unbelievable ongoings in the bay.
Recently, our tours have been truly magnificent with humpbacks showing up on all our departures. The whales seem to be moving back and forth along the Cheek Mountains feasting on huge amounts of small schooling fish near the coast.
November so far has brought beautiful winter weather to the town of Húsavík. Frost flowers decorate the town in the early morning and the sunrise throws a beautiful color play onto the mountains and over the bay.
As every day so far in November, we left the harbor on our beautiful oak boat Sylvía just shortly after sunrise today in the late morning. The sunlight was throwing beautiful colours onto the town and mountains as we left the pier.
Gentle Giants' tour Big Whale Safari & Puffins was named one of the top "Water Adventures" in Europe in the second annual GetYourGuide Awards for incredible travel experiences. GetYourGuide, the booking platform for incredible travel experiences, offers more than 50,000 travel activities in 7,600 destinations worldwide.
As a new month is just about to start, we adjust our schedule once more for this season: From the 1st of November we offer one daily departure on our beautiful Sylvía for the “GG1 Whale Watching” experience.
Earlier this season we posted an article about the Arctic Coast Way, which was ranked as one of the top places to visit this year. The Arctic Coast Way is Iceland’s first official tourist route and was opened in June 2019. Húsavík is located along the named route and one should definitely not miss planning in a stopover in our cosy town, which is also called Iceland’s Capital for Whale Watching.
