Some might think there is nothing going on at Gentle Giants at this time of year when our boats stay in harbour, but under the surface there is so much happening – not at least for our sales team which has its busiest period now.
"I have been on many whale watching tours around the world before but it was never anything like on Húsavík. I still can't imagine a better way to see a giant like a humpback up close than with the RIB safari Gentle Giants offers.
Yesterday was a very social day for Gentle Giants when we attended the natural Icelandic tourism workshop Mannamót. The name means "people coming together" and suits well for this event where around 200 tourism companies from all over Iceland gather to present their businesses, side by side, in an airplane hangar in Reykjavík.
Imagine a late summer evening in the north of Iceland. The day breeze has left, the sea is like a mirror and the neversetting midnight sun paints the entire sky in warm colours. You are on board a drifting speedboat, waiting for that peaceful humpback whale to resurface for more long, loud breaths.
It is always fun to see our tours through the passengers' eyes. This is possible thanks to different kinds of tags on various digital platforms. These photos were taken and shared by Pol Roskam from the Netherlands who joined Gentle Giants for a whale watching tour with his brother and aunt last summer.
We have now taken our first steps into yet another exciting year, full of fun plans and new possibilities. The next season will start earlier than ever, on 15th March. But before shifting all focus to the future, we invite you to take a quick look back at our 2017. Long story short, Gentle Giants has had a great year with wonderful whale encounters, yet another new RIB speedboat and a fantastic team to be very proud of.

Only one week left until Christmas and the crew of Gentle Giants is sensing a nice holiday feeling getting stronger day by day. It started some weeks ago when our Fleet Manager Kalli went around Húsavík harbour and decorated our boats and houses with colourful light strings.

His key to success is to exchange drawings and paintings for food, accommodation or money that pays for activities along the way.
Yet another great whale watching season has come to an end. We'd like to thank all our passengers for having joined our tours, but also our crew on land and on the boats for coming from near and far to make the tours possible.
