BREAKING NEWS: SPERM WHALES IN THE BAY!

A couple of minutes ago a message reached our ticket office: Guide Ricardo writes that our 9:45 "GG1 Whale Watching" departure has sighted two sperm whales in Skjálfandi Bay.

BLUE WHALE STILL HANGING OUT IN THE BAY

Also yesterday and today we were lucky to encounter the big BLUE WHALE during our „GG1 Whale Watching“ tour which departs daily at 9:45 in the morning. Blue whales are the largest, but also heaviest animals on earth as they can grow more than 30 metres in length whilst weighing about 200 tons.

BLUE WHALE SIGHTINGS CONTINUE

After a great season start two days ago with a blue whale delightening the tour, also yesterday’s and today‘s tour continued to be successful: The blue whale is still in the bay and was sighted on all departures so far.

Season start is just around the corner! Our first whale watching tour of the year is scheduled from Húsavík on Saturday April 1st at 9:45. Due to high demand, we will also offer an extra departure that day at 13:15. Bookings in advance are recommended.

WHY DO HUMPBACKS BREACH? NEW RESEARCH MAY EXPLAIN WHY

Imagine seeing a 25-40-ton humpback whale breaching out the water. It is an impressive sight which our passengers and crew are privileged to witness regularly. But what makes those giant mammals breach? Scientists have never really known why although many theories have been suggested.

ONE MONTH TO SEASON START

Time flies and now it is only one month to season start. Our first whale watching tour of the year is scheduled on April 1st at 09:45, when our boat Sylvía will leave Húsavík harbour and head out to Skjálfandi Bay in search of the giants of the sea.
