Even though the 2016 season is still going on – and indeed with great whale sightings – our sales team in Reykjavík and abroad is very busy those months focusing on 2017. We are proud to present our new Sales Manual which was published today.
September has been a successful whale watching month! Even though autumn has arrived, many humpback whales are still seen in the bay. Four to five humpback whales could be seen diving and surfacing in the same area throughout the month.
Today, one of our RIB speed boats was able to see a fin whale. Fin whales are the second largest whales existing on earth and seldom seen in our bay. Usually, they spend their day further out, searching for food in deeper waters.
What it takes to bring a whale to you. 7:30am, high season, the ticket center opens the doors, blue jackets on. Phone starts ringing, computers on to check on emails and bookings and first guests come in.
Just a few minutes ago a call reached the ticket center letting us know that our "GG2 Big Whale Safari" morning departure once again has found a rarely seen visitor: A SPERM WHALE surprised and delighted our crew and passengers short after they had left the harbor! Of course, also our upcoming departures will try to show the whale to our guests! Sperm whales are the largest toothed whales (and among the larger whales in general) as they reach a size of up to 18 metres! Come and join us on a tour! - Sarah
After a few days of unpleasant weather (which forced us to cancel most of our trips) all our boats departed as scheduled this morning. Passengers had waited for days to finally meet the gentle giants of Skjálfandi Bay! As if Mother Nature knew, they weren’t disappointed at all.
After we had to cancel most of our departures due to strong winds and a wavy sea throughout the past days, the weather is finally changing for good! The forecast for tomorrow looks really promising: sunshine with only a few clouds! Additionally, and for us the most important, the wind decreased and also the sea has started to calm down.

September has started marvelous. Humpback whales were sighted throughout these days. Two individuals were seen swimming side by side daily. One of them turned out to be Snow White, a whale well known in this bay since years.
August is over and by that, a simply fabulous month finishes. Humpback whales were sighted daily, often several individuals in one area and some would even swim side by side, surfacing and diving synchronically.
