ADVANTAGE OF STORM

The first storm since June is now going over Húsavík; rain and wind and too high waves. All trips have been cancelled so far today. The forecast says that it will slow down later today so hopefully we can go out whale watching tomorrow morning.

GG CREW EXPERIENCED GRÍMSEY

Grímsey is not far away anymore. Not now when we have our RHIB Amma Sigga which reaches Grímsey in not more than an hour. The GG crew tried this two days ago when celebrating a good season. The weather was amazing and we were doing 45 knots on a sea flat like ice.

BIRTHDAY ON THE BAY

Yesterday was GG's “King” Daniel's birthday. He entered an inviting Skjálfandi Bay at 9:45, celebrating through guiding a full boat of passengers on a whale watching adventure. All the six minkes which have been in the bay the last days were still there, together with two beautiful humpbacks and a group of dolphins.

A BLOOMING SKJÁLFANDI

AMAZING WHALE AND WAVE WATCHING

Two humpbacks have been in our bay during the whole day. I, as a guide onboard Faldur at 8:45, found the first one. Since then they have been in the same area throughout the day. The sea is rough today but we make sure that all our passengers are well informed about the conditions before they buy the tickets and again before they board.

LAST CHANCE TO MEET THE PUFFINS

ORCA IN SKJÁLFANDI BAY

First she though is was a "normal" white-beaked dolphin, but the dorsal fin was huge. Soon our guide Ann-Sophie realised that is was an orca that they had in front of them on the 8:45 tour this morning.

THE RAINBOW-TRIP

Yesterday evening I had one of the best trips since my one-month-carrier as a Gentle Giants guide started. I guided Big Whale Safari on Amma Sigga with 12 people on board and Sigdor as captain. The conditions were very good: no rain, flat sea, motivated passengers.
