SEASON START 2026

oak boat Sylvía on season start
Today, April 1st, our 2026 whale-watching season finally began. The day started off windy—especially at sea—so we had to delay our departures until the early afternoon.

At last, it was time for our boats to head out for the first time this year and to mark the beginning of the company’s 25th year of whale-watching tours in Skjálfandi Bay. Our oak boat Sylvía, along with the RIB speedboats Amma Kibba and Amma Helga, set off together, greeting the bay once again.

Heading out into Skjálfandi Bay after the winter pause, and taking in the views of the mountains and coastline, always feels a bit like coming home. At the same time, feeling the sea breeze, the spray on your face, the cold air, and hearing the sound of the water as the boat moves through the sea—it feels just as special as your very first day at sea.

For now, the landscape is still dressed in its winter coat, making every moment spent sailing along the mountains a truly stunning experience: Snow blankets the peaks, while icicles and frozen waterfalls line the cliffs.

Still thinking of joining us on a seafaring adventure these days?
