WINTER CALM IN HÚSAVÍK
As the festive season settles over Húsavík, there's a special kind of calm in the air. The town is wrapped in wintery magic, with soft light, crisp air, and a feeling that everything is ready for the holidays. At Gentle Giants Whale Watching, our staff recently came together for a Christmas buffet, sharing laughter, good food, and the simple joy of celebrating the season as a team.
Even as the seasonal buzz of summer and autumn winds down, there's still a comforting rhythm to life here. Preparations for the next whale watching season are quietly underway, while the town enjoys the slower pace, cozying up with family and friends, and savouring those peaceful winter moments.
Many of our seasonal team members have now left, travelling across the globe — some following the whales to other waters, others taking a well-earned break after weeks and months of busy tours. It's also a reminder of the unique lifestyle of the whale watching community, where work and adventure are going hand in hand, and the rhythms of nature guide our journeys.
Here in Húsavík, the Christmas atmosphere feels both calm and magical, a perfect time to pause, reflect, and reconnect before the excitement of the new season begins. Whether it's enjoying hot cocoa after a snowy walk or gathering around a table with loved ones – these are the moments that make the winter season truly special.
