MY TRAVEL FAMILY
Earlier this summer, Rakesh and Anjali from the Netherlands, along with their six children, joined one of our GG1 Whale Watching tours on oak boat Faldur.
The family writes the travel blog My Travel Family (Instagram: @my_travelfamily)
Rakesh and Anjali have always loved traveling and after their first baby was born, they continued to be a family travelling the world with kids, starting already with babies from one month old.
“Traveling is so much more than seeing new places. It is about expanding your vision of life and our planet and connecting with different people and cultures.“
If they liked the whale watching with us? Read on to find out what the whole family thought about us and the tour they joined:
“From the moment we arrived, we felt at ease and happy to be at Gentle Giants Whale Watching. The staff welcomed us heartedly, we were provided with information about what to wear and what to expect.
While on the tour, safety precautions were taken and the staff made sure to pay attention to every passenger onboard.
It was a lovely experience. Whales are wild animals, and spotting whales can’t be guaranteed. We saw many whales on our tour, humpback whales and minke whales , since the captain did so much effort to follow these majestic creatures along.
Spotting whales against the incredibly beautiful backdrop of snowy mountains in the Skjalfandi Bay, is just breathtaking. Our kids described this experience as : ‘beautiful, cool, epic, awesome, and unforgettable!”

About the GG1 Whale Watching:
The GG1 Whale Watching is the traditional whale watching tour on our beloved oak boats – former Icelandic fishing vessels that have been rebuilt to become passenger boats.
Sylvía and Faldur are spacious vessels and allow children to walk around and explore the boat, be on the lookout together with the captain and guide, or to just sit back and enjoy a bit of family time whilst sailing though the bay.
Our GG1 Whale Watching tour is designed to be a family friendly activity and we invite children of all ages to join us on a seafaring adventure to experience the wonders of Skjálfandi Bay.
Watching whales in the wild is a a once-in-a-lifetime experience and so is heading out on a boat into a bay surrounded by wild and pristine nature. Therefore, our whale watching tours are not just a great experience for the older, but also a perfect opportunity to show and teach the younger among us about our beloved planet and the secrets of our oceans.
