PLAYMATES
Our tours last weekend have once again been wonderful: The bay was full of life and neither the weather turned its back on us! Dolphins patrolled several areas of the bay and a couple of humpback whales were feasting on Skjálfandi Bay's menu. The highlight was two humpbacks - presumably a mother and calf (even though seeing them together is a very rare sight here) - which started to interact with a pod of dolphins. The calf splashed water with its flippers and tail or rolled from one side to the other as the dolphins followed the young whale around, probably poking and bumping into it in a playful manner. With time the calf became more and more confident and at some point even approached our vessel as if we were a playmate, too. Watch the video to see for yourself!
