EVER-CHANGING NATURE

3 humpbacks in front of Flatey Island

The past days have not only been wonderful in regards of the weather, but also several humpback whales have entered the bay again in search for food. Even though some individuals would challenge our patience at first with a rather long dive period, they'd then reward us with a long time spent on the surface for breathing, resting and socialising. More than once a whale would even get curious about the boat nearby and swim over to have a better look at it and us onboard. On other tours we were fortunate to observe two - at times even three - individuals swimming side by side as they slowly travelled through the waters of Skjálfandi Bay.
