VESTNORDEN TRAVEL MART
Vestnorden Travel Mart was held in Akureyri earlier this week and Gentle Giants was happily there to participate. This was the 33rd time that the event is held and it is an important trade show in the North Atlantic region, connecting tourism suppliers from Iceland, Faroe Islands and Greenland with buyers around the world.
Our team members Daniel, Stefán, Hanna Sigga and Ásrún represented the company and met up with good old friends, as well as created new contacts and presented our exciting adventures from Húsavík, the Whale Capital of Iceland.
A group then took a trip to Húsavík where first they visited the lovely Whale Museum. Following that, the group geared up and boarded three of our RIB boats for a trip out in perfect, flat sea conditions. On the RIB trip, the first stop was beautiful Flatey Island. Here the passengers went up to the lighthouse to see the spectacular view, learned more about the history of the island, and then visited the local guesthouse. Next, we boarded the RIBs again and the next stop was to say hello to the whales! We saw two humpback whale swimming together as a pair, and then some more flukes lifting up on the way home. Once back in Húsavík, the last stop for the group was our new office building “Floki”, for some drinks and socializing before having to say goodbye.
