DIVING ADVENTURES IN THE MALDIVES

Sarah Maldives Diving Trip

Gentle Giants is proud to have a team which consists of both local and international people. Especially our guides come from all over the world. As our whale watching tours do not run in the winter, many of our guides leave Iceland during that period to for example, meet everyone back home, study, work elsewhere or travel.

Our team members Sarah and Miro left Iceland about a month ago after finishing the whale watching season in Húsavík. Their winter is planned with full of adventures, the first one being a diving trip:

"Just as 'our' whales, who many migrate south into tropical waters for their breeding grounds, we decided to head for a warmer place and ended up on the Maldives. Less known for whales, the Maldives are famous for their dive sites and the abundance of life underwater.

To get the best out of it, we joined the lovely boat Manta Cruise, operated by Twenty-Six Atolls, on an 8 days long journey. Our cruise director and dive instructor Thomas Demesmaeker had heard of Gentle Giants already before I first contacted him. After a few days aboard, we ended up giving a presentation on the whales of Skjálfandi Bay for him and the other guests", Sarah reports from the Maldives.

We wish them all the best on their upcoming travels but are also happy that the adventurous couple will be back in Húsavík in time for the season start on 1st April – hopefully enriched after their travels with new experiences and memories to share with their colleagues and passengers.
