SUNSHINE, CALM SEA, FISH AND WHALES
This morning – after a couple of stormy days – the weather surprised us once again, positively this time! Sunshine, blue sky and a calm sea were awaiting us, boats filled up quickly and several RIB speed boat extra departures were added to give everyone the chance to experience Skjálfandi-Bay at its best. Besides the regular whale watching tours also two sea-angling trips were leaving Húsavík harbour heading for the best fishing spots in the bay.
Humpback whales could be seen in different areas of the bay, the first swimming just about 20 minutes away from Húsavík’s harbour. More were found along the mountains as well as at the southern end of the bay. Nearby, minke whales were enjoying the beautiful weather by surfacing frequently and also dolphins were seen travelling along the Cheek Mountains.
