WHALES, DOLPHINS AND SUNSHINE

Flipper slapping humpback whale

After a couple of stormy days and a sudden snowfall on Saturday, we were surprised by sunshine and a cloudless sky yesterday morning. Hence, everyone was looking forward to sail out in this beautiful summer-like conditions.

But not only we were enjoying the change in weather: on the first few tours we were observing a humpback whale which was actively feeding, slapping its flipper onto the surface and rolling over near our boats.

Later on we found a big group of dolphins socialising with each other, jumping for joy and chasing around our boats Amma Kibba and Faldur.

Near the mountains a minke whale was enjoying a big meal, joined by a huge group of arctic terns, which were gathering the leftovers of the whale’s prey.

Throughout the trips harbour porpoises popped up out of the sudden somewhere around us, splashing with water whenever they surfaced for a breath.
