BLUE WHALE IN SKJÁLFANDI BAY

Guide Charla and Captain Pétur happy with the season start

On today's tour, crew and passengers on board Faldur were privileged to be in the presence of the largest animal on earth.

This is what our guide Charla said after the tour:

"It was a sunny Sunday morning out on the bay, and along with the beautiful weather on our 9:45 tour came a beautiful blue whale! The early arrival of the blue whale, the largest animal on earth, along with the sunshine is a sure sign of spring in Húsavík and an exciting whale watching season ahead at Gentle Giants".

Blue whales have been frequent visitors in Skjálfandi Bay in the last years, usually arriving in late spring and early summer. This year though, we have already had blue whale reports since February, when our guide Charla was watching two blue whales from her living room window.

Our whale watching tours depart every day at 9:45 from Húsavík and we do hope that these gentle giants will stay in Skjálfandi Bay for some time.
