RÚV TV show "Sumardagar" in Húsavík

Yesterday the TV crew of the show "Sumardagar" ("Summer days") went out on one of our RIBs to watch the gentle giants in our bay – and they got an exceptional show!

This is what Stefán Guðmundsson, CEO of Gentle Giants, who was captain on the boat, says:

"It was fun going out with these great people on our RIB Amma Sigga. We went west to the mountains close to the river mouth of Skjálfandafljót. Close to the river on only 6-10 metres depth we found a humpback, which was completely in his element. It was lunge feeding and the surface of the sea foamed up several times. Thousands of small fishes jumped out of the water and flew in the air. That followed the humpback with a widely open mouth. Having this beautiful landscape and the mountain range as a scenery it was just as in a David Attenborough show."

("Það var gaman að hendast með þessa snillinga vestur að fjöllunum á RIB Amma Sigga og inn að ós Skjálfandafljóts. Þar var hnúfubakur í essinu sínu á 6-10 metra dýpi í löðrandi æti. Sjórinn kraumaði hvað eftir annað á yfirborðinu....sílið kom svo í þúsundatali spriklandi upp í lausu lofti og hnúfubakurinn þar á eftir með opinn kjaftinn. Algert David Attenborough show í fallegu landslagi við Bjargarkrókinn.")
