CANDYDAYS IN HÚSAVÍK

The past days people in Húsavík were celebrating Mærudagar, an annual festivity taking place during the last weekend of July. Translated it means something similar to “Candydays” and just like candy, this festival is very creative and many-sided, but first and foremost it is colourful. The towns and villages are divided into several parts, signalised by different colours. During those days all habitants decorate their houses and gardens and dress themselves in the conforming colours. Additionally, there are several activities for people of all ages. Especially in the harbour area one could find many things going on. Several shows, exhibitions, concerts, a market and a huge bonfire are just a view highlights of the entire celebration.
