EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Yesterday afternoon at 13:15 we decided to go out whale watching even though the bay was full of thick fog, waves and rain. We had told all the passengers several times how the conditions were and that our chances to find whales were smaller than usual, but they were really in and wanted to try their luck. And luck we had!

We sailed across the bay, towards the mountains where whales have been seen regularly during the last week. There we found them, in the middle of the fog and relatively rough sea; three humpback whales, one minke and loads of bird life.

One humpback breached (like they tend to do in storms), another one came up right next to our boat several times while we were drifting on the waves. Everyone on board forgot the cold and wet and cheered when experiencing the most unexpected encounters. Nature is so unpredictable - and that is the fun of it!
