AN UNFORGETTABLE EVENING TOUR

The bay is completely full of life and loads of whales have been spotted on our last tours – up to five species on a tour! Yesterday was a perfect day for whale watching – great weather and loads of whales. This is what guide Sigrún had to say about her day out on Skjálfandi yesterday:

“Some tours are unforgettable. The evening tour yesterday was one of those unforgettable trips. I headed out on Sylvia together with captain Óðinn in beautiful weather. The sea was perfectly calm, skies and the sun all beautiful. We had not sailed for a long time when we suddenly found two minke whales together, quite close to our boat, but we didn’t stay for long with them because we had a feeling that there was something bigger out there waiting for us. So then we sailed for a long time until I saw a big blow in the distance – a really big blow. And when we came closer we noticed that there where many whales there all around us. There were at least three humpback whales, two blue whales and some harbour porpoises. And we managed to get very close to the blue whales and in the end they started to dive together. On the way home we had the amazing midnight sun and we just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful weather of Skjálfandi bay.”
