UPDATE FROM THE COMPLETE MAINTENANCE OF OUR BOAT SYLVÍA
We take pride in taking good care of our fleet with the best of maintenance! Earlier this winter, our oak boat Sylvía sailed to Stykkishólmur on the west coast of Iceland. There she has been taken into an indoor dry dock and is going through complete makeover including getting a new modern engine.
Halli, our head captain on the oak boats, is in Stykkishólmur for the winter. He reports that the process is going well. The old engine has been removed and the engine room below deck thoroughly cleaned and prepared. The brand new Volvo engine is ready and will soon be installed into the boat, along with new fuel tanks and a new propeller. Finally, the annual beauty treatment will follow with paint work and safety inspections, before she is ready to sail back home to Húsavík for the whale watching season.
These upgrades on Sylvía will significantly decrease the fuel consumption and sound levels, making her even more environmentally friendly when cruising with passengers around the wildlife of Skjálfandi Bay!
